Dates are always a little bit awkward at first. It doesn’t matter if they’re the first or the fifth, you’re still going out with a stranger to do forced activities that will make you feel closer. But no matter how well you plan said activities you can still end up with a date that’s just not working out. It might be chemistry between the two of you or maybe plans just don’t seem that exciting once you’re doing them. But you can still turn it all around with minimal effort.
Change the Mood
“Make her laugh with your jokes”
If you’re trying to be a cool outdoorsy type of date and take her hiking, you might want to switch things up. Not everyone is into the outdoors, so if you notice that she doesn’t seem to be interested in what’s going on be spontaneous. Ask her if she wants to go catch a movie instead. Let her help pick out your next destination so that you’re sure she’ll like it.
When you’re in a restaurant that can be either too stuffy or too casual ditch it before the waiter takes your order. If that’s not possible, then follow it up with something really extreme on the other end of the spectrum. Maybe a comedy night at the local laugh factory or a night out at the casino. Sometimes you just need a change in atmosphere.
Change the Conversation
“If you are not okay with it, change the topic”
It doesn’t matter how interesting you are as a person if you can’t convey that with words. Being nervous on a first date is fine, but make sure that you get past that. Ask her questions about herself and what she likes to do. People love to talk about themselves. As a matter of fact, a person’s name is their favorite word. So try to drop in her name a few times during conversation. Just keep it casual. “Wow Ariel you’re so funny Ariel.” Yeah, talk about weird.
A nice guy who you can always count on is definitely someone you want…on your friend’s list. Or maybe later on in the relationship. But right now she wants someone who is going to be fun and spontaneous and do all of those crazy things that other guys won’t do with her. Most of the time women will gather their girlfriends around and tell them all about the guy who seems straight out of a movie. Being different and daring is what will get her attention back when the date starts fizzling out.
Avoid Being Negative
The first thing you’re probably going to do when you see your date start yawning is to panic. You know she’s not enjoying herself and you don’t know what to do to fix it. When you start to freak out she’s going to pick up on that crazy nervous energy and eat it like an angry bulldog. Just keep positive and try to make the conversation as interesting as you can. That’s going to be the key in turning your date around. You can take her to all of the exciting places you want, but if she can’t talk to you it won’t work.
